Coming from a household that didn’t put much emphasis into healthy eating, I grew up with more fast food dinners than home cooked ones and had no idea that the food i was eating was slowing down my body. I never made a connection to where my food was coming from or the journey it had gone through before it got to my plate. I became interested in nutrition education in young adulthood and realized the importance of teaching proper nutrition to children at a young age so that they can develop healthy habits. I participate in community gardens as well as home gardening and believe that gardening is an outlet to grow the mind, body and soul.
